Why STEMBounce?
STEMBounce was designed with the Global Competencies in mind and they are clearly embedded throughout all stages of the “bounce.” Students must be responsible digital citizens as they communicate via technology; they research via technology, and they document via technology...their footprint is evident alongside their thinking. STEMBounce is cross-curricular in its approach involving the core STEM subjects, but it is flexible, allowing participants to incorporate the Arts (STEAM), or any subject area. This initiative is student directed and emphasizes creativity, problem solving, collaboration, global citizenship, digital citizenship and it incorporates hands-on and technology based STEM activities. STEMBounce revolves around connections outside the four walls of your classroom. It is important that students recognize the importance of different voices, perspectives and strengths. As students work with children from other classes within your school, the province or around the world, the value of an authentic audience is clearly evident. Throughout the experience, students may draw on community experts (virtually or by invitation to the classroom) to help them in their challenge development. |
